About Me and All This Cat Nutrition

Picture
My name is Anne Jablonski.

This website was born in 2003 out of dogged (catted?) determination that came on the heels of abject exasperation.

I discovered, after years of frustration, disappointment, and failure to help my beloved cat Duke overcome a digestive disorder labeled "IBD" that he could be, and in fact was, cured of this "incurable" disease. The answer wasn't in all those bags of alphabet-soup food I was hauling back from the vet.  The answer wasn't medication.

The answer was food: a home-prepared, grain-free, 100-percent, raw meat diet prepared from grinding up whole chickens, bone included, using a formulation that I'd learned about thanks to some folks on a Yahoo e-group, a great book I read, and the pioneering work of a Canadian woman named Natascha Wille.

  • The exasperation part was that the answer was just that simple.  I'd never learned about the importance of species-appropriate feeding for my carnivores from my vet. The fact that cats are obligate carnivores was amply documented.  But the staggeringly wide gap between this one critical fact and the conventional wisdom being hawked by so many vets and the pet food industry on what a cat should eat was too wide.

  • The determination part was that it seemed worthwhile to help to get the word out about cat nutrition. I was thrilled at Duke's recovery. And I was deeply affected by the hundreds and hundreds of stories I was reading from people like me online who had identical experiences: once they took the plunge and started feeding their cats like carnivores, their animals "mysteriously" recovered from all kinds of ailments such as inflammatory bowel disease, urinary tract disorders, diabetes, and more.

To make a long story short, I wanted to spread the word.  And so I started this website. I'm delighted that you found your way over here. My wish is that you'll find something helpful here to help your own cat.

Thank you, Mother Nature, for being such a fine teacher.

Thank you, Duke, for being so patient with me. Sorry it took me so long, good buddy.

Happy reading.  Happy feeding.
