L'il Bite of the Day - Pottenger's Cats

The now legendary (in the raw feeding world) 10-year study of cats by California doctor Francis Marion Pottenger MD was one of the first to document the positive impact of a raw meat-based diet for cats.

Among the scores of findings from the "Pottenger's Cats" study - conducted over 80 years ago - was that the negative effects of feeding a cooked diet accumulated over time and generations. Cats fed a "heated" diet became more conspicuously ill, with each successive generation of non-raw-fed cats showing more and more signs of poor health.

While we have learned a great deal more in the intervening 80 years about the details of sound cat nutrition principles, Dr. Pottenger's study provided a seminal foundation that all of us cat nutrition geeks can only be grateful for!
